Rob comes to the Aero Law Group with nearly ten years of experience working for the FAA as an enforcement attorney, and five years of experience representing airlines, pilots, mechanics, aircraft manufacturers, and other aviation industry organizations, with an emphasis on regulatory compliance.
While at the FAA, Rob handled hundreds of enforcement matters, was lead attorney on dozens of trials, advised the FAA on issues pertaining to operational control, and wrote FAA legal opinions. Rob also worked with enforcement investigative teams on cases involving airlines.
While in private practice Rob represented numerous aviation entities on a diverse range of issues varying from air carrier and aircraft sale transactions, representing companies and airmen following accidents and incidents, handling FAA enforcement defense, and advising aviation companies on business and legal decisions. Rob particularly enjoys structuring corporations to meet FAA and DOT requirements. He looks forward to continuing his practice advising clients on aviation matters at the Aero Law Group.
Rob was the past president of the King County Bar Association Aviation Law Section and is currently the attorney advisor to the Washington Seaplane Pilots Association, and the AOPA industry representative to the Renton Airport Advisory Committee. He serves as an AOPA panel attorney, and has given presentations to students, industry groups, and attorneys on aviation law. Rob has also served as an expert witness on various aviation matters.
Rob holds a BS in Mathematics from Haverford College, in Haverford Pennsylvania, and a law degree from the Benjamin Cardozo School of Law in New York, York. He is licensed to practice law in New York and Washington States.
Rob is a passionate member of the aviation community. In addition to having worked as an airline captain and corporate pilot, Rob owns a Pitts Special which he enjoys flying aerobatics in whenever the weather in Seattle is sunny. Rob holds an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate, and is rated to fly several jet aircraft, as well as seaplanes, helicopters, and gliders.
